My tribute to one cool ass show! :-)

Someone recently asked me why I decided to write this tribute to a TV show. Well, recently I found myself struck with the reality that I'm no longer living in the world with my parents. My father passed away four years ago and my Mother last month. I started writing this track to deal with what seems like a surreal and alternate universe I’d now stepped into. It was just a way to conceptualize the grief and move through the process.

Then, while conceptualizing this as a song, I took a break from it for a few days and watched season one of Stranger Things on Netflix. The show really struck a chord with me and seemed to relate with the concept I was already working on. Once I came up with the chorus and decided to name the song Stranger Things, it just made sense to go ahead and cater it even more to the show. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it!

There are many things in recent events that just seem surreal, as if we've all entered into some alternate reality where things are not as they once seemed. Longing for the days of innocence, I started trying to put together some ideas that sounded like they were written in 1983 or 1984 and again once I watched the show, this made even more sense.

I'm moving down a path where pursuing the eighties synth sound just makes sense. I hope you enjoy the sense of nostalgia as well. More of this is to come!

lyrics

"Stranger Things"

Ever since nineteen eighty-three
this world turned upside down
disappeared, you left without a sound
and now you’re not around

Stranger things lost in time
I know you’re near
or have I lost my mind

Flickering lights echoes floating by
they pass from realm to realm
Moving through dimensions without fear
connection overload

Stranger things in my mind
I know you’re here
or am I lost in time

A portal to another world
I will find you
In the upside down

Stranger things
I know you’re here
Inside my heart though it's not quite clear

Ever since nineteen eighty-three
this worlds turned upside down
