about

With a 12 string guitar that barely plays anymore and a broken harmonica, I attempted a song with a more simple and southern flare. The guitar may buzz like crazy and the reeds inside the harp may be nearly collapsed but I think this all adds quite nicely to the character of what this song is about.

lyrics

“The Hunger”

When I was a little boy
I would dream that I could fly
now my years they’re all numbered
from one to forty-five

All my hopes they now ride
on the wind and against the tide
with all my strengths I still wonder
If I’ll ever find my stride

What keeps me going
and why do I even try
and then I remember
the hunger deep inside

All my heroes they’re forgotten
they are gone and dead inside
all my memories gather round her
she’s my love and she’s my pride

What keeps me going
and why do I even try
and then I remember
the hunger deep inside

When I was a little boy
I would dream that I could fly
now my days they’re all numbered
from one to forty-five
